The School
The Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School, on a green and leafy campus on the south side of the city, is an independent, fee-paying school with 360 places for children aged from 3 to 18. Pupils follow an international curriculum and are presented for GCSE, SQA Standard Grade, Intermediate and Higher examinations.
The education, based on the philosophies of Rudolf Steiner, emphasises personal responsibility and social awareness. Regular exchanges are held with other European schools, French and German are taught from age six, and each year a number of pupils from abroad attend the Upper School.
One of 874 Steiner schools world-wide, the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School was founded over 60 years ago in 1939. It is subject to HMIe inspections.
The education offered at the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School strives to engage and nourish each child's innate curiosity and love of learning. It offers a balance of academic, artistic and practical activities.
The central aim of the education is to equip young people emotionally, spiritually and intellectually, not only to meet the future but to play a part in shaping it.
