Let boys start school later
KEVIN SCHOFIELD EDUCATION CORRESPONDENT
BOYS should start school a year later than girls in an attempt to close the gender gap on attainment, according to a leading educational psychologist.
Alan McLean, who works at Glasgow City Council, said girls should enter primary one aged five, while boys should not start school until they are six.

School that should be a lesson to us all

ONE of the great attractions of living and raising a family in Edinburgh has to be its schools. STEINER DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT
On Wednesday (14th December) at 5pm Mike Pringle MSP will be leading a private members debate in the Scottish Parliament on the subject of funding Steiner Schools in Scotland. There is no voting in this kind of debate, but it will be a very important chance to raise the issue and attempt to gather support. Please email your MSP (name.msp@scottish.parliament.uk) and ask them to take part in the debate. At our school we have had the same concerns as Jamie Oliver about the food our children eat. We feel from long years of experience that having the right diet not only improves educational performance but also behaviour.

95% of the food used for lunches at the School is organic.

 
Svetlana Broz, cardiologist and author of "Good People in an Evil Time, Portraits of Complicity and Resistance in the Bosnian War" and granddaughter of former Yugoslav head of state, Marshal Tito took part in a number of events in and around the School in March, 2006.
